On December 17, 2024, Jawa International Ltd. marked a major milestone with the commissioning of its new Beta-Lactam plant in Isolo, Lagos. The event was graced by Hon. (Prof.) Muhammad Ali Pate, the Minister for Health and Social Welfare, who highlighted the project’s alignment with President Tinubu’s vision for local content, youth employment, and healthcare development.
The plant positions Jawa International as a key leader in Nigeria’s pharmaceutical sector, supporting the production of high-quality antibiotics. Prof. Moji Adeyeye, Director-General of NAFDAC, praised the dedication of the Jawa team, while Mr. Boss Mustapha, former Secretary to the Federal Government, recognized the long-term commitment of Jawa’s Managing Director, Mr. Varkey Verghese, to Nigeria’s growth and development.
Mr. Verghese, who has invested over 43 years in Nigeria, was lauded for his unwavering belief in the Nigerian dream and his company’s growth from humble beginnings to over 600 employees across multiple subsidiaries. The event also saw the presence of industry leaders, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and royal dignitaries, underscoring the significance of this achievement.
As Jawa continues to expand, its commitment to supporting the Nigerian economy, enhancing healthcare access, and investing in local communities remains strong.
